A young Nigerian girl’s life ended in tragedy after traffickers allegedly took her to Cotonou, Benin Republic, for prostitution.
Sewuese died on Friday, July 24, 2026, in Benue State. Her family brought her home after she became seriously ill.
Her death has caused sadness and raised fresh concerns about human trafficking in Nigeria. Many people now want answers about how she left the country and who was responsible.
Meanwhile, activist Zege Orkwande has promised to pursue justice. He has helped rescue several trafficked girls from Benue State.
According to Orkwande, investigations have started. He also warned that anyone involved in Sewuese’s trafficking would face the law.
“People are asking ‘who took Sewuese to Cotonou’. Trust my process,” he wrote.
Furthermore, the activist said he had gathered useful information about the case. However, he wants Sewuese’s family to bury her before he reveals more details.
“The people that trafficked/smuggled her to Cotonou for prostitution will surely face the law and serve in prison uniform,” Orkwande added.
Sewuese’s death has once again drawn attention to the dangers of human trafficking. In addition, it has reminded Nigerians of the need to protect vulnerable young people from exploitation.
As her loved ones prepare to say their final goodbye, Orkwande asked the public to respect the process.
“All information gathered. I’m waiting for her to be buried first. REST WELL,” he said.
