Davido’s absence from one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year has sparked fresh debate online, with comedian DeeOne questioning why the Afrobeats star neither attended the ceremony nor publicly celebrated his longtime friend, Soso Soberekon.
The comedian has criticised Davido for missing the lavish wedding of music executive and businessman Soso Soberekon, which took place in Warri, Delta State, on Saturday, July 25.
The star-studded ceremony attracted several celebrities from Nigeria’s entertainment industry, making Davido’s absence a major talking point among fans and social media users.
Reacting in a video shared online, DeeOne expressed disappointment that the singer neither showed up for the wedding nor posted a congratulatory message for Soberekon on any of his social media platforms.
He went further to suggest that Davido could be “jealous” of Soberekon’s wealth. DeeOne also claimed that Davido’s own widely publicised wedding looked more like a “bachelor’s party” when compared to Soberekon’s elaborate celebration.
His comments quickly divided opinion online.
While some social media users agreed with DeeOne and questioned Davido’s absence, many others defended the singer. Critics argued that the comedian had no business commenting on the personal relationship between two friends, insisting that not every friendship needs public validation.
As the debate continues, neither Davido nor Soso Soberekon has publicly responded to DeeOne’s remarks.
