Ubi Franklin Opens Up on Mental Struggles After Lilian Esoro
Behind the success, fame, and public image, music executive Ubi Franklin says he experienced one of the darkest periods of his life after his marriage to actress Lilian Esoro ended.

In an emotional reflection shared online, Ubi revealed that the collapse of the relationship affected him deeply and pushed him into a serious mental health crisis.
The former couple got married in 2015 and later separated. They share a son, Jason, and their marriage was officially dissolved by an Abuja High Court in 2021.
Speaking about the journey, Ubi recalled the uncertainty that surrounded their relationship before their wedding. He said there were moments when the marriage plans faced challenges, including periods when they both questioned the future of the union.
According to him, the emotional pressure became overwhelming during that period. He admitted that he struggled to cope and reached a point where he needed support from family members.
Ubi said the experience taught him important lessons about pain, forgiveness, and personal growth. He explained that despite their separation, he and Lilian avoided public fights and focused on maintaining a healthy relationship for their child.
“We became good friends,” he said, adding that they continue to co-parent and celebrate important moments in their son’s life.
The music executive described his son as the greatest blessing that came from the relationship. He said the experience helped him understand that difficult situations can still produce meaningful outcomes.
Ubi also encouraged people facing personal struggles to avoid holding on to anger or hatred. Instead, he urged them to learn from difficult experiences and continue moving forward.
His story has sparked conversations about mental health, emotional healing, and the importance of seeking support during challenging moments.
