Nigerian music is taking centre stage in Hollywood as Tems and Burna Boy secure major roles on the soundtrack of the highly anticipated fantasy film Children Of Blood And Bone.
Grammy-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, will serve as the film’s executive music producer and soundtrack curator, while Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy joins the project as executive music consultant.
The announcement came during the trailer launch event for Paramount Pictures’ Children Of Blood And Bone in New York, where director Gina Prince-Bythewood revealed the team behind the movie’s music direction.
Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, later confirmed the news, revealing that the singer will also contribute three original songs to the soundtrack.
According to BlackFilmandTV founder Wilson Morales, Prince-Bythewood praised Tems’ involvement in the project and highlighted the scale of the soundtrack.
“We’ve got three new Tems tracks. We’ve got Burna, we’ve got Fireboy, we’ve got BNXN, we’ve got Ayra… the soundtrack is so amazing,” the director said during the film’s cast panel.
Prince-Bythewood also noted that Tems is making history as the first woman to executive produce a soundtrack of such magnitude.
Confirming the milestone, Awoniyi shared on X:
“Executive Music Producer & Curator of the Children of Blood and Bone soundtrack. Our very own @temsbaby. Three brand new Tems songs. Coming soon.”
The announcement follows the release of the film’s first official trailer, which gave fans a glimpse of Nigerian singer Ayra Starr’s Hollywood acting debut. Starr will also appear on the soundtrack alongside Wizkid on the song “Gimme Dat.”
Based on Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel, Children Of Blood And Bone features a powerful cast including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ayra Starr and Damson Idris.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the fantasy epic will arrive in cinemas on January 15, 2027, bringing together Hollywood storytelling and the global influence of Nigerian music.
