A fresh political battle has erupted between Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo and Peter Obi after a heated argument over an airport incident.
Keyamo accused the former Anambra governor of twisting the facts to gain public sympathy.
The minister made the claim during Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday night, July 30.
“He was lying. He lies like a fish drinking water. He lies. He lies for fun,” Keyamo said.
Keyamo insisted that Obi wrongly accused airport officials of harassment because of his opposition status. He argued that such claims could damage the reputation of hardworking civil servants.
The aviation minister questioned why airport workers should face blame before authorities reviewed the situation.
Obi had earlier complained about his experience at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. He suggested that his political position influenced the treatment he received.
The disagreement later escalated when Keyamo gave Obi a seven-day deadline. He demanded an apology to airport staff and payment of a fine over alleged parking violations.
The clash has added fresh drama to Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
Many Nigerians are now following the dispute closely as both sides defend their positions.
