“Start Crying Now, You Can’t Defeat Tinubu in 2027” – Wike
The opposition should forget any plans to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has sent a blunt message to opposition parties ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Wike said they should forget about defeating President Bola Tinubu.
He made the statement on Tuesday, August 18, during a press conference in Abuja.
According to Wike, the opposition does not have what it takes to defeat Tinubu in 2027.
He also mocked the opposition over its performance in the recent Osun State governorship election.
Wike pointed to the wide gap between the votes won by the leading candidates.
He questioned how opposition parties could win nationally after struggling in Osun.
“While the winning man will be scoring over 500,000 votes, the second person scored over 400,000; the third person will be scoring 17,000?” he asked.
Wike said the opposition’s best option now is to prepare for another election defeat.
“Try, they know that the only thing they can do now is to start crying,” he said.
He added that the opposition could begin rebuilding after the 2027 election.
“Maybe after now they can start planning and putting their house in order,” Wike stated.
However, he insisted that defeating Tinubu in 2027 would not happen.
“But if it’s this 2027 election against Tinubu, no, forget it, it’s over,” he declared.
Wike also urged political parties to focus on choosing capable leaders.
He said parties should also show how they plan to solve Nigeria’s problems.
The minister further described the opposition as “depleted.”
He claimed that he was among those who contributed to weakening the opposition.
“Don’t be talking about opposition; say depleted opposition, which I’m one of those that depleted them,” Wike said.
