Rita Edochie Breaks Silence on Claims Over Judy Austin Posts
With her ₦1 billion legal battle with Judy Austin heading to court, veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has fired back at reports claiming she has denied making the social media posts at the centre of the dispute.
The actress dismissed the reports and insisted that she has not disowned the publications attributed to her.
Her reaction followed claims by lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye that Rita had denied authoring the posts in a formal response filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.
Rita challenged the account, questioning how she could have denied the posts when, according to her, she had not yet appeared in court.
She also maintained that she stood by the comments she previously made about the long-running dispute involving Judy Austin, Yul Edochie and his estranged wife, May Edochie.
In her latest social media post, Rita reiterated her position on several of the allegations contained in her earlier publications and urged followers to wait for the court proceedings.
The dispute stems from a ₦1 billion lawsuit filed by Judy Austin against Rita Edochie at the Abuja High Court.
Austin is seeking ₦1 billion in general damages over what she alleges were defamatory and cyberbullying-related publications by the veteran actress.
She is also asking the court to compel Rita to issue a full and unreserved apology and retraction.
According to the suit, the proposed apology should appear in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and on all of Rita’s social media platforms.
Austin is further seeking an order directing Rita to delete the alleged defamatory statements from online platforms.
The actress is also demanding ₦50 million from Rita to cover the legal costs associated with pursuing the case.
The matter is scheduled to begin on September 29, 2026.
With the court date approaching, Rita has urged those following the controversy to wait for proceedings rather than rely on reports about what she allegedly said in court.
She also thanked her supporters for their continued loyalty as the legal dispute moves toward its first major hearing.
