Former Kogi Gov Candidate Honours Late Ibrahim Idris
The death of former Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris has triggered fresh tributes, with former governorship candidate Murtala Ajaka describing the late politician’s passing as a painful loss to the state.
Ajaka, who contested the 2023 Kogi governorship election, expressed his grief in a condolence message released on Monday by his Head of Media and Public Communications, Prince Tijani Daud.
According to Ajaka, Idris’ death has left a void not only within his family but also among the people of Kogi State who witnessed his years in public service.
The former governor served as Kogi State governor for almost nine years, from 2003 to 2012.
Reflecting on his political career, Ajaka said Idris occupied an important position in the history of the state and would be remembered for his contribution to its political and developmental affairs.
“This is a painful loss, not only to his immediate family but to the people of Kogi State and everyone whose life he touched during his years of public service,” Ajaka said.
He further described Idris as an elder statesman whose years in government made him an important figure in Kogi’s political development.
Ajaka said the former governor’s death had closed a notable chapter in the state’s political history.
“His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, served our state at the highest level and remained an important figure in the political history of Kogi State. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in our state,” he said.
The former candidate extended his condolences to Idris’ immediate family and communities connected to the late governor.
He specifically commiserated with the people of Omala Local Government Area, the Igala Kingdom and residents of Kogi State.
Ajaka also offered prayers for the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and accept his good deeds.
He prayed that Allah would grant Idris Al-Jannah Firdaus and provide his family and loved ones with the strength to endure the loss.
