Families Announce Burial Plans for Lovers Killed in Anambra
The families of Vivian Chinedu Akabuike and her boyfriend, Ifeanyi Stanley Nwachukwu, have announced their burial arrangements following their tragic deaths in a building collapse in Anambra State.
The couple died after the Elite 5-Star Hostel in Amaokpala, near the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, collapsed.
The building, which reportedly had about 60 rooms, caved in on Sunday night, July 26, 2026.
Rescuers later recovered the bodies of Vivian, 29, and Ifeanyi, 32, from the rubble.
Vivian worked as a baker, while Ifeanyi operated as a Moniepoint PoS machine distributor. He was also popularly known as Don Cash.
Both young people attended the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and had reportedly been working hard to build a future together.
According to reports, Ifeanyi had gone to visit Vivian at the hostel that night.
He arrived at about 10:45 p.m., shortly before the building collapsed.
Their deaths have since left their families, friends and loved ones mourning the couple.
Burial dates announced
According to Vivian’s obituary, her family will bury her on September 12, 2026.
She will be laid to rest in her hometown of Owere-Ezukala, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Ifeanyi’s family will bury him in his hometown of Umuogbonna, Wziama Nunya, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.
The burial arrangements now give family members and loved ones an opportunity to pay their final respects to the couple, whose lives ended together in the tragic hostel collapse.
