Ugo Ugochukwu Wins Silverstone F3 Sprint To Continue Strong Form

Nigerian-American racing sensation Ugo Ugochukwu has continued his rapid rise in motorsport after delivering a dominant performance to win the Formula 3 Sprint Race at Silverstone, extending his remarkable run of success in 2026.
The Formula 3 Silverstone Sprint victory came just months after Ugochukwu secured the 2026 Formula Regional Oceania Championship title in New Zealand, further strengthening his reputation as one of the sport’s most promising young talents.
Driving for Campos Racing, the 18-year-old started from pole position and controlled the race from the opening laps, eventually crossing the finish line with a commanding 17-second winning margin to claim his second victory of the season.
Yevan David produced a strong defensive display to finish second for AIX Racing, becoming the first Sri Lankan driver to secure a Formula 3 podium finish. Campos Racing also celebrated a double podium result as Théophile Nael claimed third place after overtaking TRIDENT’s Matteo De Palo at the final corner.
Noah Stromsted finished fifth, followed by ART Grand Prix rookie Maciej Gladysz, while PREMA Racing’s Louis Sharp secured seventh place. TRIDENT’s Freddie Slater finished eighth, ahead of Hitech’s Fionn McLaughlin, with PREMA’s James Wharton completing the top 10.
Attention now shifts to Sunday’s Feature Race at Silverstone, where Freddie Slater will start from pole position.
The Ugo Ugochukwu Silverstone victory adds to an outstanding 2026 campaign that saw him dominate the Formula Regional Oceania Championship. The Nigerian-American driver secured the title after winning four races and collecting multiple podium finishes, finishing 15 points ahead of Audi Formula 1 junior Freddie Slater.

Despite experiencing a suspension-related technical issue during qualifying on the final weekend in New Zealand, Ugochukwu recovered strongly to secure enough points and claim the championship crown.
Following his title success, Ugochukwu praised his team and supporters on Instagram, writing: “Team work makes the dream work. Thank you to my core team, my IG Family for the constant support and the entire organisation of CTFROT. I am, because of you.”
Born in New York, Ugochukwu is the son of Nigerian fashion model Oluchi Onweagba and Italian fashion designer Luca Orlandi. He represents both Nigerian and American heritage in international motorsport.
His championship achievement came three months after leaving the McLaren development programme, completing a season in which he reached the podium in every round and finished outside the top 10 only twice in 15 races.
Ugochukwu began his racing journey in karting, winning several major titles including the CIK FIA European Championship OKJ. He progressed into single-seaters in 2022, competing in British F4 before moving on to Italian F4, Euro 4, UAE F4, and Formula Regional competitions.
His continued success has placed him among the most exciting young drivers to watch as he aims for a future career at the highest levels of motorsport.
