Tinubu Marks Wife Remi’s 66th Birthday With Special Tribute
President Bola Tinubu has opened up about the woman he says has stood beside him through life’s toughest moments, celebrating his wife, Oluremi, on her 66th birthday as his “truest friend and confidante.”
In a heartfelt birthday tribute shared on his verified X account on Monday, Tinubu praised the First Lady for her patience, courage, compassion and unwavering support throughout their years together.
The President said Oluremi had shared his burdens, offered counsel during difficult periods and remained by his side when the future appeared uncertain.
“Today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage,” Tinubu said.
He also quoted a Yoruba proverb describing a good wife as her husband’s crown, saying Oluremi had given practical meaning to the biblical description of a virtuous woman.
Tinubu said his wife had often understood thoughts he struggled to express and remained calm during challenging periods.
He particularly praised her willingness to speak honestly, even when he might not want to hear what she had to say.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.
The President also highlighted Oluremi’s influence within their family.
He said their children and grandchildren had grown under her guidance and carried her values of faith and kindness.
“Our home bears the lasting imprint of your devotion,” Tinubu said.
Beyond her role in the family, the President acknowledged the First Lady’s humanitarian activities.
He recalled her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and her ongoing activities under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
According to Tinubu, her efforts have reached young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country.
He also praised her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her as a compassionate advocate and determined champion.
Tinubu said her compassion cuts across ethnic, regional and religious lines.
Reflecting on their journey together, the President recalled the difficult decisions and sacrifices they had faced, as well as the laughter and prayers that helped them through those periods.
He said he would make the same choice again if given the opportunity to start his life over.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you,” Tinubu said.
The President concluded his tribute by wishing Oluremi many more years of good health, happiness and joy.
