President Bola Tinubu has described the ongoing transformation of Abuja as a reflection of his administration’s wider development vision for Nigeria, saying the capital city’s infrastructure projects represent a model for national growth.

Tinubu made the remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of the newly constructed Collector Road C01 and bridge in the Institution and Research District of Abuja. The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said infrastructure development remains a key driver of economic expansion and improved living standards.
According to Tinubu, the development of roads and modern infrastructure creates opportunities for investment, opens up communities and strengthens economic activities.
“When you build roads, you open up districts. When you open up districts, you invite investment. And when investment comes, Nigeria grows,” he said.
The President stated that the modernisation of Abuja represents a smaller reflection of the broader transformation his administration aims to achieve across the country, including cities, satellite towns and rural communities.
“The transformation of Abuja is a microcosm of the transformation we are bringing to the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
He recalled that concerns raised by members of the Body of Benchers over poor access and traffic challenges around the Nigerian Law School prompted his directive to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to urgently resolve the issue.
Tinubu said the project was approved under emergency procurement and completed within months, adding that it has created employment opportunities and improved movement for students, lecturers and residents within the area.
He commended Wike for delivering the project and supporting the administration’s infrastructure agenda in the FCT.
Speaking at the event, Wike thanked the President for providing resources for development projects and assured residents that more districts within Abuja would continue to benefit from government investment.
The Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Yunana Dauda, said the project, which includes a link bridge, underground drainage system and solar-powered streetlights, would enhance access to educational and research institutions while improving connectivity for surrounding communities.
