Soludo Questions Obi’s Record Ahead of 2026 Election
The political contest ahead of the 2026 elections has reopened an old rivalry in Anambra, with Governor Charles Soludo taking another swipe at his predecessor, Peter Obi.
Speaking at a campaign rally in the state on Saturday, September 19, Soludo challenged Obi over his record in politics and his contribution to the Igbo people.
The governor particularly drew attention to the erosion crisis in Anambra, asking what the former governor had done to address the problem since entering politics.
Soludo questioned the continued support for Obi during election periods, arguing that voters should look beyond emotional appeals when deciding who to support.
He also urged the people of the South-East to reconsider their approach to elections and focus on what candidates have delivered.
“Ask him, since he has been in politics, what has he brought to the Igbos?” Soludo said in Igbo.
He went on to argue that politicians should not rely on emotional connections with voters whenever elections approach.
According to Soludo, the 2026 election would provide an opportunity for the Igbo people to make a different political choice.
“We Igbos will get our share this time around by voting right,” he said.
The comments represent another public criticism of Obi by Soludo. Obi, a former Anambra governor, is now the presidential candidate of the NDC.
Soludo, meanwhile, is seeking to consolidate his political position in Anambra as preparations for the 2026 elections continue.
