Osun Election: It’s Adeleke vs Tinubu – Dele Momodu
ADC chieftain Dele Momodu has described the upcoming Osun State governorship election as a direct showdown between Governor Ademola Adeleke and President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Momodu said the August 15, 2026 poll goes beyond a contest between Adeleke and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He argued that the APC does not have enough political strength in Osun to take on the incumbent governor alone.
Instead, Momodu believes the presidency remains the major force behind the APC’s challenge to Adeleke.
“The battle in Osun is not a contest between Adeleke and the APC; it is between Adeleke and President Bola Tinubu. APC is no match for Adeleke in Osun.”
The ADC chieftain also claimed that Adeleke has built a strong political base across the state.
According to Momodu, many political stakeholders understand the governor’s influence.
He insisted that even members of the ruling APC recognise the challenge of defeating Adeleke at the polls.
“Everybody agrees on that. They can make all the noise and hullabaloo, but I can tell you today that even the presidency knows.”
Momodu added that his contacts within the APC also understand Adeleke’s political strength.
“I have a lot of friends in APC; they know they cannot match Ademola Adeleke.”
His comments come as major parties step up their final campaigns ahead of Saturday’s election.
With voting day just around the corner, attention remains firmly on the battle for Osun and the political forces backing each side.
