Days of fear and uncertainty have turned into joyful celebration after the husband of an abducted Oyo school principal held a thanksgiving service following her safe release from captivity.

Professor Alamu, the husband of Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal of Ahoro Esinle School in Oyo State, led members of his church in giving thanks to God after his wife regained her freedom alongside dozens of abducted students and pupils.
Mrs. Alamu was abducted on May 15 alongside 43 students and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, an incident that sparked widespread concern and renewed calls for improved security in schools.
Following their release on Friday, July 12, Professor Alamu attended a thanksgiving service at First Baptist Church, where he joined other worshippers in praising God for the safe return of his wife and the other victims.
Photos and videos shared on social media captured emotional scenes from the church service, showing Professor Alamu singing, dancing and expressing gratitude alongside members of the congregation.
The thanksgiving service drew heartfelt reactions from Nigerians online, with many celebrating the victims’ safe return and offering prayers for families still affected by insecurity across the country.
The release of Mrs. Alamu and the students has brought relief to their families and the wider Oyo community after weeks of anxiety following the abduction.
