A Nollywood star has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after an unusual photo controversy sparked outrage online. Hours after content creator Caramel Plug raised an alarm over an edited image, actress Anita Joseph has finally broken her silence and revealed what she says happened.

Anita Joseph has publicly apologised to Caramel Plug following a viral controversy over a manipulated photograph that appeared on her social media page.
The drama began when Caramel Plug accused the actress of using a photo she originally shared online, removing her face, and replacing it with Anita Joseph’s face through digital editing.
According to Caramel Plug, she discovered that an image showing her in a cream-coloured suit, coffee-brown tie, jacket, and yellow shoes had been reposted on Anita Joseph’s page with the same outfit and background, but with a different face.
The content creator said she attempted to express her displeasure under the post but alleged that her comments were repeatedly deleted, further increasing attention around the issue.
Following the growing backlash, Anita Joseph removed the controversial photo and addressed the situation. The actress apologised for what she described as a “mix-up” and explained that the image was created through artificial intelligence (AI).

She attributed the error to her AI tool, referring to it as her “AI boy,” and insisted that there was no intention to take Caramel Plug’s identity or use her content improperly.
The incident has sparked wider conversations about the growing use of AI in content creation, especially regarding digital manipulation, image ownership, and the responsibility of creators when publishing AI-generated materials.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape online content, the controversy between Anita Joseph and Caramel Plug has highlighted the need for greater caution and transparency when using technology to create images involving real people.
