Ronaldo Sends Condolences to Messi Following Father’s Death
Cristiano Ronaldo has reached out to Lionel Messi following the heartbreaking death of Messi’s father, Jorge Messi.
The Portugal captain shared a message of support after Messi announced the loss of his father and longtime manager.
Jorge reportedly battled a prolonged illness before his death. His passing has left Messi mourning the loss of a man who played a major role in his life and football career.
Messi shared an emotional tribute to his father. He reflected on their close bond and the pain of facing life without him.
The Inter Miami star also revealed how Jorge’s declining health affected him during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Messi, his father had repeatedly encouraged him to play in one more World Cup.
However, Jorge’s condition worsened shortly before the tournament began.
Messi said his father missed the tournament for the first time. He had hoped Argentina would go all the way so he could share another World Cup triumph with him.
Argentina eventually reached the final. However, Spain defeated them 1-0 after extra time.
Messi admitted that he desperately wanted to win the trophy for his father.
He also revealed that the tournament took a physical toll on him. The Argentine captain said he pushed himself despite struggling physically.
Even though Argentina fell short, Messi said his father had been right to encourage him to play.
Amid the heartbreaking moment, Ronaldo showed his support for his longtime football rival.
The Al-Nassr star wrote:
“A huge hug to you and yours in these tough times, Leo. Much strength.”
Ronaldo and Messi have shared one of football’s most celebrated rivalries for years.
Away from the competition, however, Ronaldo’s message offered a touching reminder of the respect between the two football legends.
