2027: Osun APC Chieftain Tells Tinubu to Stay Focused
Security concerns have taken centre stage in a fresh appeal to President Bola Tinubu, with Osun APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye urging the President to keep his attention on governance rather than opposition activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
Oyintiloye said the Federal Government should treat emerging security threats as an urgent priority. He made the call on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Osogbo.
His comments came after a recent alert from the Department of State Services warning of possible attacks on vulnerable locations, particularly across southern Nigeria.
The former lawmaker urged Tinubu to give security agencies stronger backing. He said they need better surveillance, intelligence gathering and cooperation to respond to threats before they escalate.
“The President must urgently support security agencies to intensify surveillance, strengthen inter-agency collaboration and take proactive measures to safeguard lives and property amid emerging security concerns,” he said.
Oyintiloye also asked security agencies to improve how they share intelligence and coordinate operations across the country.
He recommended stronger protection around locations that could be vulnerable to attacks. These include schools, places of worship, NYSC facilities, motor parks and garages.
With schools currently in session, he said authorities should pay particular attention to educational institutions.
Call for Probe Into Osun Killings
The APC chieftain also demanded a comprehensive investigation into recent killings in Osun State.
He urged security agencies to establish the identities of people suspected of involvement in the violence. He also called for investigations into anyone accused of sponsoring or facilitating the attacks.
Oyintiloye said anyone found culpable after due investigation should face prosecution under the law.
He further appealed to community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and transport workers to remain calm. He urged them to assist security agencies by providing credible information.
According to him, security personnel also need improved training, modern equipment and adequate resources to detect and prevent attacks.
He added that the service chiefs should be prepared to adjust their operational strategies whenever necessary.
Oyintiloye also urged state governors to provide stronger support for security agencies within their states.
Although he acknowledged Tinubu’s constitutional responsibility as Chief Security Officer, he said governors and local government chairmen also have an important role because they operate closer to the grassroots.
The APC chieftain argued that development cannot thrive where insecurity persists. He linked a stable security environment to economic activity, investment, infrastructure and effective social services.
He therefore called on Nigerians to stay alert and promptly report useful information to security agencies.
Oyintiloye also urged citizens to continue supporting efforts aimed at preserving peace and unity across the country.
