Davido’s Sister Opens Up on His Finances and Luxury Spending
Davido may be one of Afrobeats’ biggest stars, but his sister Sharon Ademefun says someone still has to keep an eye on his spending.
Ademefun, who serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Davido Music Worldwide, revealed that she regularly meets with the singer to review his finances and encourage more discipline with his spending.
She made the disclosure during an appearance on The Morayo Show, hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown and shared on YouTube on Tuesday.
According to Ademefun, she and Davido hold a finance meeting every week. The sessions allow them to go through how his money is being spent and discuss ways to maintain proper financial structure.
She said one of the issues she often raises with the singer is his appetite for expensive cars and jewellery.
Ademefun recalled telling her brother to stop purchasing more luxury cars, only to discover another addition to his collection shortly afterwards.
She joked that despite her warnings, Davido could still surprise her with news of another expensive purchase.
The businesswoman also revealed that her involvement in Davido’s career dates back to its early stages. She previously worked with him as part of his management team before taking on a more formal financial role.
Ademefun admitted that working with her younger brother was not always easy, particularly because she was prepared to challenge him when necessary.
She said their disagreements were part of the reason they eventually went their separate ways professionally before reconnecting in a more structured arrangement.
With her business experience, Ademefun explained that she can now contribute to putting stronger systems in place around Davido’s business affairs.
When Afolabi-Brown asked whether she knew the full extent of Davido’s wealth, Ademefun kept her response guarded.
She said she had signed a non-disclosure agreement, adding humorously that she could neither confirm nor deny such information.
The CFO further explained that Davido has a management team that oversees his regular logistics. However, she sometimes intervenes when attempts to reduce expenses could compromise his travel arrangements.
According to her, there have been occasions when cheaper travel options were selected for Davido, only for the singer to demand a first-class ticket.
She said she has even purchased tickets at the airport after discovering that efforts to cut costs had created problems.
Away from Davido’s finances, Ademefun also discussed her fashion business, Body Politics.
She said the clothing brand was born from her frustration with the limited options available to women across different body sizes.
The brand caters to customers from XXS through 5XL.
Rather than expanding too aggressively, Ademefun said she prefers to strengthen the business before taking on major growth plans.
She disclosed that customers should expect more pop-up events and improved availability as she continues to develop the brand.
