Orban Needs Three More Goals to Seal Amedspor Move
Gift Orban’s hot start at Amedspor could soon turn his loan spell into a permanent stay, but the Nigerian forward still has three goals to score before that happens.
Amedspor president Nahit Eren has confirmed that Orban’s contract includes a mandatory purchase clause that will come into effect when the striker reaches 10 Turkish Super Lig goals.
The 23-year-old has quickly become one of the standout performers for the newly promoted side, finding the net seven times and recording two assists in his first six league appearances.
Eren explained that Amedspor paid €500,000 to bring the former Hoffenheim player to Turkey on loan.
“We loaned Gift Orban for €500,000, not €1m. If he scores 10 goals, the mandatory purchase option will be activated,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday, according to GZT.
The Amedspor president also moved to correct reports about the financial terms of the potential permanent transfer.
Rather than the €5m figure that had been reported, Eren said the club will pay €3m if the purchase clause is triggered. He added that Amedspor will spread the payment across several instalments.
“This figure is €3m, not €5m. We will pay this amount in instalments over the years,” he said.
Orban’s latest performance has brought him even closer to the target.
The Nigerian scored one goal and created another as Amedspor defeated Beşiktaş 3-2, taking his league tally to seven.
His latest strike also moved him ahead of Victor Osimhen in the current Super Lig scoring chart, with the Galatasaray forward sitting on six goals.
Orban’s goals have arrived at an important time for Amedspor, who have made an impressive return to Turkey’s top division. The newly promoted club currently lead the Super Lig on goal difference.
The challenge for Orban is now straightforward: three more league goals will activate the clause and give Amedspor a permanent deal for the striker.
Given his start to the season, attention will now turn to whether he can reach the 10-goal mark and complete the conditions of his move.
